Ambassadors

The wolves in this gallery are captive-born wolves that serve as educational "ambassadors" at the Wolf Conservation Center of South Salem, NY. A portion of the proceeds from sales of photos in this gallery will be donated to the Wolf Conservation Center, an educational 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for which I have volunteered for the past 10 years.

The original pack of ambassador wolves. From left: Lukas, Kaila, Apache. Apache was the alpha, Lukas the beta, and Kaila the omega - all playing essential roles in their small pack. It was always interesting to see how Lukas and Kaila were more confident around human visitors when Apache was present.
Kaila, the Grande Dame of the Wolf Conservation Center. She passed away on February 21, 2011 just a few months shy of her sixteenth birthday.
